Day 159 – 219, 15 BBY
Nebulon-B Frigate Resurgence
Outer Rim Trade Posts
After departing Bespin and barely escaping the clutches of the Empire, the heroes escort the medium transport Shackles of Nizon to rendezvous with the Resurgence. Darga is taken away by agents aboard the Resurgence for interrogation. The slaves aboard the Shackles are debriefed for any any useful information by the intelligence agents aboard the Resurgence and then released to return to their homes or other destinations.
The heroes spend time cleaning up the newly acquired “Glorious Chariot”. With some vigorous cleaning and minimal cost for a few simple repairs the Luxury 3000 Space Yacht is restored to being considered “livable”. Prasla spends some time tinkering, Jamil and Korbyn try to interact with Denia some but she is still recovering from her long ordeal at Darga’s palace, though improving well. Sharyr and Dol pursue their own interests in their free time.
Captain Verana informs the heroes that any information gathered from Darga, the computer records on the Chariot, and the slaves will take some time to process and piece together. He congratulates them on a job well done and places them on “retainer” in case additional missions arise in the future. For now though, they are free to pursue whatever personal tasks they have.
Jamil researches possible locations he would likely be able to find items related to the old Jedi order that have not been scooped up by the Empire yet. Sticking to the outer rims major trade routes he decides to check out Eriadu. An industrial Outer Rim world located in the Seswenna sector, Eriadu hosts over twenty billion souls, primarily humans, living under a miasma of haze and smog from rampant pollution. Its government of five noble houses resides in its capital, Eriadu City, presided over by a planetary governor. Its primary spaceport is the city of Phelar. The planet’s industry focuses primarily on manufacturing, computer technology, droids, and servicing the Imperial drydock in orbit. The whole planet chokes on class inequalities; power politics, wealthy titled families, and bureaucratic corruption dominate day-to-day life on Eriadu. Phelar’s primary university holds a massive collection of artifacts called the Archive, located on the Phelar University campus. The Archive possesses a surprising amount of security and only allows accredited scholars entry. The Archive has made Phelar a more diverse city, with all manner of species coming and going.
Jamil locates a black market dealer, a Caamasi named Obiken Ne’Kla, who has some items rumored to once be used by ancient Jedi. Even though Jamil was trained in the temple he never had much experience researching ancient Jedi equipment, but at least some of the stuff did seem legitimate. He passed on the Jedi armor de to its cost, hoping that Prasla could fashion him something else, but did pick up a few low cost parts to use in modifications to his own lightsaber. The vendor took a liking to Jamil and his companions and shared some information with them.
“This is a handy place to be when you deal in these sort of wares. You just have to be careful of the Empire, but their own propaganda to hide the existence of the Jedi helps. Half the time they don’t realize the historical significance of the artifacts they bring in here to be archived. I have a few contacts on the inside who share information with me. Occasionally I can get a piece or two smuggled out. Unfortunately though, one of the guards who would bring me items was caught, so my supplies have grown more limited.”
“No, unfortunately I do not have any crystals. Those are very rare indeed. Any crystal that comes into the Archive is immediately confiscated by Imperial agents, sometimes they are returned, but I have never heard of a Kyber crystal ever returning. I have heard in certain circles though that daring smugglers could acquire some on Phemis. Some recent tectonic activity has opened up a fissure, granting access to rubat crystal deposits there. The opportunity won’t last long though. The Empire is struggling to secure the area and currently don’t have enough forces, but reinforcements are sure to arrive, and then you may as well forget it.”
“If you are interested in something a bit closer, I was given an overheard message. It was sent from Ashur Sungazer, one of the scholars at the Archive, to someone named Jerek. The message contained something about finding an artifact in the archive that contained some crystalization and engravings that could be several thousand years old. I don’t know if it is anything but you all look like the kinds that would be willing to check it out. It’s too much risk for me.”
With that the heroes leave Obiken and resume their activities. A couple days later, Shahyr gets a communication from an old contact, Levea. Shahyr cringes as she reads the communique, knowing this day would come. Levea needs Shahyr’s help concerning a certain bounty hunter that is on her trail. She doesn’t go into too many details, but does say it will involve the Black Sun cartel. She reminds Shahyr that she owes her for her freedom and if she helps with this, things will be considered even. Things are too hot for Levea right now and you are the only one she can count on.
